STARGAZING—Week of May 4th to May 10th, 2015

May 3, 2015 | Monthly Astrology|Stargazing

The positive trends of last week carry over into this one, but we are required to recheck our facts if we have jumped to incorrect conclusions. Encountering resistance is a call to reassess assumptions and reconsider our positions. However, we won’t change our minds easily, but remember that we are best served by letting go of fixed perspectives to make room for new and improved ones.

To keep from getting swamped by too much work or everyday responsibilities, devise a plan and stick to it. You might even want to delegate some of your tasks where appropriate.

Lifestyle issues might also be at the forefront of your mind, especially if you want to lose weight or get fitter in general. Romantic and business relationships continue to show a positive side. Even so, it helps to be open-minded regarding someone’s excellent suggestions, as they may benefit you.

Mercury RetrogradesMercury enters the shadow of its coming retrograde cycle that starts on May 18th through June 11th. This one is in Gemini, one of Mercury’s favorite signs. It is difficult to say if that will present more challenges or make it easier. If you have natal planets ranging from 4-14 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, then you will be activated (challenged, motivated) more than most people. One thing is for sure, the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars) will all oppose Saturn in Sagittarius during this next month.

Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-Pluto

The Full Moon in Scorpio made a “T” shaped pattern with expansive Jupiter in Leo, that pushes you beyond your comfort zone. Scorpio and Taurus call you into your power, and that means first releasing that which drains your energy. The phrase “harmony through conflict” is used for this combination, teaching you to walk through the chaos of this world while remaining in your center. This fairly private, “mind your own business,” conservative combination is pushed by risk-taking Jupiter, urging you to open your heart to a new adventure. So the challenge is to go outside your comfort zone while keeping your heart open, yet not putting yourself into a position to get emotionally damaged-quite a conflicting task!

Instead of shutting down under this complicated energy, use it to raise the base foundation of your life up to the next level.  Regardless of your philosophical beliefs, it might be fun to go sit in an open field and meditate, infusing your inner being with higher wisdom. At the very least, do some emotional release and healing.

Cinco de MayoOn May 5th, the moon enters lively Sagittarius, great for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. Just remember Sagittarius believes in overdoing whatever it decides to do, and that can be tough on your budget and your body. Have fun but be careful.

On Wednesday, May 6th, the Taurus Sun make a perfect trine to Pluto in Capricorn. This is a positive energy that brings to an end the extreme tensions and uncertainty of the last few years, and it’s suggests that it’s time to get going again. Another marker of a forward motion is the end of a three year stretch of the Pluto/Uranus square back in March as well as positive trines of Jupiter and Pluto over the last few months.

Sensual Venus enters nurturing Cancer on Thursday, May 7th through June 5th to provide emotional support while Mercury is being overly mental and preparing to retrograde. When the planet of relationships enters the sign of emotional nurturing, you want to increase the quality and quantity of sharing and comfort in life. Our collective emotions create an upsurge as it shifts the energy of love and values to the tender, loving care of the mothering and nurturing energies of Cancer. That can include improving existing relationships, opening to new and better relationships, or making your home more comfortable.

Friday is a good day to mix business and pleasure. The Moon in Capricorn wants to produce something before the week is done, and social lunar connections want to enjoy the process. Business lunches are friendly and romantic get-togethers can produce tangible results.

Saturday evening is under the influence of an Aquarius Moon, perfect for groups, friends and organizations. Get out and socialize on Saturday evening. Try a new restaurant with a group of friends. The positive note is that you open to new ideas and new people, and that can be a lot of fun if you are willing to step outside your comfort zone in public events.

Mother's DayMother’s Day is under a group-friendly Aquarius moon. It produces more of a group energy than a cozy gathering, so consider taking the whole gang out to celebrate with Mom. With Venus now in Cancer, we become highly sensitized and focus on taking care of our homes, family, which is the perfect way to harmonize Mother’s day. The morning and early afternoon are best to visit and get together, because your emotions will feel overloaded by late afternoon.
