STARGAZING — Week of May 23rd through May 29th, 2016

May 21, 2016 | Monthly Astrology|Stargazing

Moon&StarsAs we complete the powerful energies of the Full Moon at 29 degrees Sagittarius, the good news is that you are opening to a new set of values and life priorities. The challenge is that you are not quite sure what those new values and priorities are just now. Allow them to develop through the end of June, with better opportunities to push ahead with more power come late August.

Mercury ends his three-week retrograde cycle early on Sunday morning. At nearly the same time, the Sun opposes Mars adding fuel to an impatient fire. Fortunately, it is Sunday morning so you are more likely to feel annoyed or extra sleepy. It feels as though part of you needs to get moving and another part of you cannot even get started. That feeling settles down towards the end of the day.

The Moon is void-of-course almost all day Monday, and that means tending to existing projects and humble tasks rather than starting anything new and important.

venusVenus gets things going by moving into Gemini early Tuesday until June 17th. In the flirty and talkative energy field of Gemini, on the romantic level, is willing to play with new relationships, but it is not commitment oriented. Gemini is the cosmic equivalent of our social media, easy accessed, entertaining, and a place where you can create and share the hottest news. Just remember that it is also fickle, impersonal, and emotionally detached. This sexy energy will be online until the Summer Solstice.

On the monetary level, Venus brings money from a variety of sources, but often in small amounts.

When you are operating on a spiritual level, Venus passing through Gemini is an important combination. It is associated with the energy where you bring metaphysics down into the physical, creating manifestation and deeply penetrating spiritual experiences. You can become a teacher of teachers. Healing and helping people to live in greater beauty is the task.

Even with all this playful Gemini energy, the Moon in Capricorn on Tuesday and Wednesday still wants to accomplish something tangible. A good way to work this combination is to accomplish a lot of small tasks rather than focusing on one big project.

Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-PlutoThe mood shifts on Thursday, May 26th, with the second difficult square of the year with Jupiter and Saturn. Pay attention to timing as expansive Jupiter in Virgo challenges consolidating Saturn in Sagittarius. In truth, this push-pull has been going on all week, and also for several months on a higher level. The square still presents obstacles to moving forward. On the other hand, this is the second square this year that the energies have provided an opportunity to reach a balance point between our commitments (Saturn) and our larger vision (Jupiter.) Finally, you can begin to push forward on new or existing projects, but be practical and cautious at the same time. Leave open space for adjustment in those new projects which will come into being sometime in late August.

On Friday, May 27th, Mars, the planet who has been retrograde in Sagittarius since April 17th, moves backwards into Scorpio, where it will remain for the next four weeks. Expect hidden emotions to rise to the surface. Just when you thought you were finished with deep level healing and release, here comes anything left undone or the next hidden level below the surface. This Mars retrograde is difficult because it involves Mars moving backward in two opposite and completely different signs, Sagittarius (Jupiter) and Scorpio (Pluto.) Mars is strong in Scorpio, although the retrograde weakens the power of its sting somewhat. The scorpion has been known to strike when it is least expected. Keep a close watch on you back and the area where Scorpio rules your birth chart, from now until June 29th, when it turns direct again.

Memorial Day Taps played

On Saturday the Moon moves into gentle and healing Pisces. Saturday evening is great for a movie, flowing music, romance, and spiritual practices. A Pisces Moon is heartwarming and healing as we pause to remember our fallen soldiers in battle.
