The Rose of Summer — Every heartbeat is God’s name to me. Every breath of life is ecstasy. Every night is bliss and I awaken in your company. The Sun has entered LEO
The fiery sign of LEO has an inside track on love, power and the universe. One of the best routes you can take is heart-focused meditation. Anything you can do to enhance the purity of your ideas and creativity will bring you rewards. Developing and using your creative abilities creates an energy flow within you that triggers that same flow to others when they encounter the work you have done. Music, acting and temporal forms of artistic expression that involve an audience as you create, brings you an especially potent technique. Engaging in sports activities brings joy and enthusiasm and at its best, brings playfulness to both spectators and players. Taking on a leadership role will challenge you to bring forth your best, Leo. Working and playing with children can also trigger spontaneity within for the benefit of everyone involved. Children respond the best when someone is able to touch their minds and hearts to draw them out. Their relative openness, especially when young, will allow you to open your heart as well. No matter what you do, if you realize that by giving to others you give to and improve yourself, you will always be on the right track.
Jupiter has been lighting up your life, Leo, as Jupiter has been traveling through Aries for the past few months. This influence, which occurs once every twelve years, boosts dating potential for singles and renews the sizzle for long-committed couples. Socializing is equally in focus and will fill your days, nights, and weekends with hours of pleasure and new adventures. Relax through the long, hot summer days and visualize your dreams, make notes as how to make them happen, and then move forward as fall begins a few weeks from now. ANIMAL: BUFFALO
Prayer for Abundance
Buffalo, you bring us
The gifts of life,
Hear our prayers,
Smoke rising, like the Phoenix,
We are reborn
Within the sacred words.
In the Lakota tradition it was the White Buffalo Calf Woman who brought the sacred pipe to the people and taught them to pray. The bowl of the pipe was the receptacle that held tobacco, an herb with male and female medicine. The stem of the pipe represented the male entering the female and planting the seed of life. In the coming together of the male and the female, the connection to the divine energy of Great Spirit was made. As the pipe was loaded with tobacco, every family in nature was asked to enter into the pipe and share its medicine as prayer and praise to the heavens. The smoke was considered to be a visual prayer, and was considered to be very sacred and cleansing.
All animals are sacred, but in many traditions the White Buffalo is the most sacred. The appearance of the White Buffalo means that your prayers are being heard, that the sacred pipe is being honored, and that the promises of prophecy are being fulfilled. White Buffalo signals a time of abundance and plenty.
Buffalo was the major sustenance for the Plains Indians. It gave meat for food, hides for clothing, warm and soft Buffalo robes for long winters, and hooves for glue. The medicine of the Buffalo is prayer, gratitude and praise for that which has been received. Buffalo medicine is also knowing the abundance is present when all relations are honored as sacred, and when gratitude is expressed to every living part of creation.
Because of its desire to give the gifts that its body provided, and because of its willingness to be used on Earth for the highest good before entering the great hunting grounds of Spirit, Buffalo did not readily stampede and run from hunters.
To use Buffalo medicine is to smoke the pipe in a sacred manner, and to give praise for the richness of life to be shared with all races and creatures, all nations and all life. It means smoking for others so that their needs are met, praying for the good of all things in harmony, and accepting the Great Mystery as a part of that harmony.
August is the month to focus on the message from the Great Buffalo. You may be asked to use your energy in prayer. You may be called upon to be used as an instrument of someone else answer to a prayer. This could portend of a time of recognizing the sacredness of every walk of life, albeit different from your own. To honor anothers’ pathway, even if it brings you sadness, is a part of the message that Buffalo brings. This may be a time of reconnection to the meaning of life and the value of peace. Most assuredly this time will bring serenity amid chaos if you pray in earnest for enlightenment and the power of calmness and give praise for the gifts you already have.
Buffalo medicine is a sign that you achieve nothing without the aid of Great Spirit and you must be humble enough to ask for assistance and then be grateful for what you receive. Is August 2010 a time to be grateful for my life, my family, friends, my possessions, my talent, my abilities, my health? Is it time to make peace with another, or to make peace with some inner conflict I have so that I may walk in balance again?
Become the Buffalo. Feel the sacred smoke of prayer as the spiritual power hovers over and around you, change your Buffalo robe to white so that you may be the answer and refuge to the prayers of the world and loved ones around you.
AUGUST CRYSTAL: Peridot – Onyx
PERIDOT: Balances the glandular system. Aids in tissue regeneration. Has beneficial influences on the heart, pancreas, spleen, liver, adrenals and purifies the body. Strengthens bloodstream. Overall balance of the mind and body. Aligns the subtle bodies and increases intuitive awareness. Reduces stress. Stimulates the mind and thinking process. Accelerates personal growth. Opens new pathways to new opportunities. Helpful when going through sudden change or crisis.
ONYX: Relieves stress and removes negative energies. Balances the male/female polarities. Strengthens bone marrow. Aids in detachment. Enhances emotional balance and self-control. Creates desire for higher inspiration and brings it in. Works with the seven chakras and our attitudes, depending on the color of the onyx.
RUNE of the month
RAIDO-JOURNEY
Raido is concerned with communication, with the attunement of something that has two sides, two elements, and with the ultimate reunion that comes at the end of a journey when what is above and what is below unite and become one mind. This journey is the journey of the Soul. Moreover, the approach of that which is realized from innermost sentiment rather than the force of circumstances. A simple prayer for the journey of the Soul is: I will to do Thy will.
Such a simple form of prayer is proper, it seems, on almost any occasion. It is a suitable preamble, in particular, to healing. Raido is another of the Runes in the Cycle of Self-Transformation.
Inner worth mounts here, and at such a time we must remember that we are not intended to rely entirely upon our own power, but instead to ask what is right action. Ask through prayer and meditation, through addressing your own knowing, your body and the connection to your Blessed Higher Self knowing, the Witness Self, the Teacher Within. Once you are clear, then you can neutralize your refusal to allow the right course of action to flow through you. Not intent on movement, be content to wait. While you wait, keep on removing your resistances. As the obstructions give way, all remorse arising from trying to make it all happen disappears.
As always, this journey is towards self-healing and unity. This can include nations with nations, as the Middle-East conflicts build to a dangerous state of affairs. The planet and each one of us are concerned here with nothing less than an unobstructed, perfect union. However, this union with Heaven and Earth cannot be forced. Keep within your limits. Regulate any excesses in your life. Material advantages must not weigh heavily on this journey of the self towards the Self.
Trust your own Process — that is the essence of this Rune. Keep on cutting away the illusions. Stand apart from like-minded others. The notion of safety and strength in numbers does not apply at this time. This part of your soul journey cannot be shared. Innermost feeling, spontaneously expressed, is the only right action now. This Rune urges you to undertake your journey, your quest — and if you have already begun — focus and continue.
This Rune also asks you to be put on notice, particularly with your personal relationships. At this time, ruptures are more likely than reconciliations. Effort will be required on your part. Keep your good humor; whatever happens, how you respond is up to you, and will set the way.
The requirements of your Soul process may totally disrupt what you had intended for yourself this month. Hoped-for outcomes may elude you. Yet, what you may regard as detours, inconveniences, disruptions, blockages, and even failures or deaths will actually be re-routing opportunities for you, with union and reunion the only abiding destination.

What is needed is the name and birth date of the ill person, along with a diagnosis, if possible. What are you asking to be lifted? Taurus (4/21-5/21)
Find a way to release the stress. August continues all the stress you have been feeling, as your work remains unsettled. You may be time away from work to care for a relative. Avoid legal matters, and be sure to document and job difficulties just in case someone takes issue with your actions.
Gemini (5/21-6/20)
August brings to a peak an issue that has been building up all summer. There is tension and conflict with children, a friend, a group, as well as your romantic relationship. Money may be involved and you may find that someone who you thought you knew well is a decidedly different person.
Cancer (6/21-7/22)
August brings matters to a peak, and events will unfold quickly the first three weeks. Be sure your home and property are well insured, especially if you live in a severe weather area. Also, check in on your relatives and loved ones. You may receive that promotion, new-position, or relocation.
Leo (7/23-8/22
Be prepared to assist a relative if necessary. Summer events come to a climax rapidly during August, with an unexpected outcome. Downsizing could affect your job, and you could find yourself headed out of town to help a relative. You may consider getting some extra education, which pays off in 2011.

August brings continued financial strain. This downward trend could be due to increased expenses because of children, or unwise investments. Check out your credit report and do the best you can to avoid debt. It may be difficult to get a loan now, and you should take action with lenders if you see a potential problem. Also, there could be problems with an inheritance or insurance settlements.

Think carefully if you are suddenly offered a job elsewhere because it could end as soon as it begins. Job related tensions continue throughout August. Be careful about what you say and to whom, and avoid difficult and controlling people. Someone who appeared to be a friend last month could be undermining your efforts now. At August’s end you will have to make some tough decisions about your work life. Hang on to the big picture because this influence will pass at year’s end.

Be especially cautions with investments and speculation; a big loss is more likely than a big win. Recent issues come to a peak in August, and money may be involved. In addition, don’t allow anyone to pressure you for a loan, including cosigning for one, even if you need to cut ties. Protect your financial security.
