IRIS DARLINGTON (Deepti) — My Spiritual Eagle

Every morning I begin my day with a cup of coffee while talking and praying to my backyard birds. Today, December 7, 2013, I had a new visitor in my yard. A golden Booted Eagle, who seemed extremely friendly. I had never seen this particular bird in my yard or the neighborhood before. The bird walked along my patio, looking directly at me, warmly, and even seemed to want to come inside. The Eagle had no fear, and I was able to take some pictures of this splendid bird of power and grace. Inwardly, I “felt” it was Iris’ energy coming to me with a message.

After my meditations, I went to find my Animal Speaks book by Ted Andrews, one of my favorite books of messages. This is the message I received from my dear friend, Iris Darlington, who passed away on December 1, 2013.

Iris had brain surgery on November 1st and remained in a coma until the day of her death. She had been a social worker and her life was dedicated to healing and giving aid to others. She was excellent at it.

The KEYNOTE for EAGLES: Illumination of Spirit, Healing, and Creation
THE CYCLE OF POWER: Represents all seasons and during Daylight

The Eagle is the greatest and one of the most admired birds of prey. It has served as an inspiration to many worldwide societies. Their ability to soar and hunt amazes and thrills those who are a witness to the Eagle. They are so good at getting their food that they spend very little time hunting. – The fact that they are so good at hunting and feeding themselves from the land and still soar to great heights in the sky reflects much of the message this bird (Iris-Deepti) was carrying to me.

One of the messages that came was to “remember who you are.” I can soar into the other levels and dimensions easily, but often forget that I can also feed myself, find platforms for my workshops, and bring forth the Sacred energies to heal.

The Eagle has been associated with Jupiter, the planet of expansion and good fortune, and was a strong emblem for the Roman Empire. In Egypt it is a symbol for the Soul and Spirit, along with the warmth of life, as well as resurrection.

The Eagle is like the Thunderbird – who controlled lightening, rain, punishment and rewards. It was believed that the Eagle had mystical powers, and these powers could be shared by anyone who possessed a part of the bird. (Like feathers)

To the Hopis, the Bald Headed Eagle and the Golden Eagle were the greatest of all birds in the sky. Those who have the Eagle as their totem need to look at the symbolic association with water. (I am a double Pisces with a Sagittarian rising, which are ruled by Neptune and Jupiter.) Water is associated with the psychic aspects of life and the creative energies. An Eagle hunting in the water must be able to penetrate the water, grasp what it requires, and then rise out of then and become grounded again. (All this means – and may bring – an increased energy and ability, and they need to learn to work with emotions, psychic powers, and all the aspects of religion and spirituality with greater control. It reflects the teachings about true mentorship and being to enter and exit the higher, more etheric realms at will.)

The Golden Eagle, a part of the Booted Eagles group, is who appeared in my yard today. It flies the highest of the Eagles, and quite gracefully. The white feathers of an Eagle are sacred and treasured by the Native American Indians and are liked to tremendous wisdom, healing, and creation. These feathers are used in powerful healing ceremonies, for cleansing the aura, and even shapeshifting. The Eagle has come to symbolize heroic nobility and Divine Spirit. Eagles are the messengers from heaven and are the embodiment of Spirit. The can also symbolize the discovery of the inner child.

There is an ancient belief that as old age approached, the Eagle’s eyes would grow dim, and the Eagle would then fly so near the Sun that it’s eyes would become scorched. It would then seek out a pure water source, dip itself into the clear water three times, and then its youth would be destroyed.

This reflects much from a mystical point of view. It hints of the resurrection as well as alchemy. The fire of the Sun and the clear water are opposite elements that are brought into harmony in a manner that elicits a change. It reflects several needs.

There must be an involvement with creativity. Three is the number of new birth and creativity. Works begun.

A willingness to experience extremes in a controlled condition or environment: This facilitates the alchemical process within your life.

A willingness to use your passion to purify (like flying into the Sun) and use your given abilities, even if it means getting scorched a little.

A willingness to seek out the true emotional aspects of oneself and immerse yourself within them, so that by doing so you can recover the lost child and awaken a higher sense of purity, passion, creativity, healing, and deepen your spirituality.

A examination of the individual characteristics and behavior of the Eagle will reveal even more of the medicine and power attunement this energy will bring to you.

Even with the eagles magnificent ability to fly, it stays connected to the earth. The talons of the Eagle are razor sharp, and are meant to grasp and hunt. This reflects the need to stay connected and utilize the things of the earth. Without the ability to grasp powerfully and utilize what it grasps, it would not be able to survive.

The sharp beak is designed to cut, tear, and crush. Eagle have strong jaw muscles. This is important for digestion and speech with humans, but there is a difference with Eagles. Although the voice of the Eagle is weak, the jaws have powerful muscles. It is important to know when to speak, how much to say, and how strongly to say it. It is important to remember that unless this is controlled, it will be very easy to inadvertently hurt someone with words that sound like cutting, tearing and crushing.

If you can master these challenges, then new doors will open as well as a new vision. This vision will be far reaching into your past and past-lives, with the present, and your future lives as well.

The eyes of the Eagle have a 3D or binocular vision, just like humans. They can see forward and sideways, and their vision is eight times greater than humans. Meditation on the Number 8 or an 8 life path will reveal much about the kind of visions the Eagle can awaken. ( Have an 8 Life-path number- and this number represents Infinity)

The Eagle hears very well. It can hunt as much by sound as sight. Your ability to hear – both spiritually and psychically – will increase.

Most Eagles mate for life. The male will collect the materials for the nest, but the female is the architect. The nests are always large and built high up for safety. The tasks of feeding the babies are shared by both — teaching the lessons of cooperation and responsibility.

The Eagle is a true predator, and as will all predators, it helps to keep the world in balance. Predators capture the weak and sick, helping to keep the world healthy by preventing the spread of disease. This is a healing role, and can awaken one to many forms of this work.

They have a powerful sense of conservation and they will often perch and wait, biding their time through joyful soaring and aerial acrobatics—all the time using their vision and instincts to let them know when to take flight and capture their prey. This sense of confident energy conservation is necessary to develop Eagle medicine.

They are also opportunists, and they will let other birds do the hunting for them, often stealing the food from other birds or predators. Whenever the Eagle comes into one’s life, opportunities, even those thought lost, always arise. It’s time for you to see your opportunities and snatch them when they arise.

Eagles don’t always swoop down and kill. They have tremendous control over their powerful wings and can glide slowly and silently down so the prey does not see them coming. (A new sense of timing and movement will begin to develop within you. You will learn to soar, swoop, dive, and hover, and how to use the winds within your life and your own developing wings to ride then to your own benefit.)

Eagles are symbols of great power, a power that goes beyond their actual size. To be aligned with the Eagle medicine – which Iris gave to me today – is to take on responsibility and power to become much greater and bigger than you appear to be. From a Karmic aspect, it reflects that events will now fly by faster. And the repercussions to everything you think, do, or say (or fail to do or say) –positive or negative— will be both stronger and quicker.

You have accepted Eagle as your new totem – your power animal – which brings a powerful new dimension to your life, a heightened responsibility for your Spiritual growth. ONLY through doing so, can you learn how to fully move between two worlds, touching all life with healing, and become the mediator and the bearer of new, creative forces within the world.

What a message – what an incredible gift she lovingly brought to me!
