ASCENSION—ACCESSING THE FIFTH DIMENSION
The Truth About 2012
This is one of the most powerful books about 2012 ever written.
Elizabeth Joyce writes well and sincerely on a subject that I know she understands from personal experience: the difficulties that confront all of us following ‘the path’ as we move from one level (or ‘Dimension’) to the next. Which of us, on taking up yoga or meditation for the first time has not felt the reproach of old friends and family members? Have we not all experienced guilt, or even worse worried that we are traitors, for not staying ‘true’ to the outlook or religious beliefs of our parents? These are common experiences yet they are seldom written about—at least not without such clarity and understanding as they are here—by today’s teachers and gurus. I am glad to see that Elizabeth is filling this vacuum.
There are other gems in this book too. Just recently my own daughter moved from Primary to Secondary School: from being a big fish in a little pond to being a little fish in a much larger lake. In time she will grow out of ‘Big School’ too, perhaps passing through University before going out into the even bigger world of work. As a parent I know that with each transition she will experience the joy, pain, exhilaration and fear of transiting from one ‘world’ to another. As she does so, she will mature, one day we hope to being a parent herself with all the joy, love and pain that that brings. Elizabeth points out (and I can endorse this from my own experience, limited as it is) that the same thing is true of spiritual experience as worldly. As we transit from one level to another, so we go from being big to little fish all over again. Yet—and this is one of the most curious aspects of living on planet earth—though we may move on internally in our spiritual awareness, externally we are all still humans. Thus unlike at school, where transition of level means new classrooms or even buildings, here on earth we find ourselves rubbing shoulders both with those who are more advanced than ourselves and others who are still in Kindergarten.
In this context I love Elizabeth’s analogy of the earth being like an airplane. As she reminds us, we don’t know who we are going to end up sitting next to or what their inner world will be like. Very likely it will be completely different from our own. Our neighbour in the next seat may be interested in boxing or stockcar racing while we have a passion for ballet. Yet for the duration of that flight we are going to be overlapping auras and breathing the same air and somehow we need to get along. This is a perfect analogy for life on earth: a planet where we share breathing space with some eight billion other Souls, most of them coming from cultures entirely different from our own as well as living on different planes of being. How do we cope with this? How do we stop ourselves from being pulled off our spiritual path by those who, for the most part unconsciously, want us to stay in a third or fourth Dimensional world when we want to access the fifth or sixth?
