Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, on Thursday September 8th, 2022. She was the longest living Monarch in the UK’s history. After ten days of mourning, Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be on Monday, September 19th, at Westminster Abbey in London, England. Queen Elizabeth II will be given a state funeral at 11am on Monday, after she has lain in state for four and a half days. On the morning of the funeral, the bell on Big Ben will ring once at 9 a.m. in the Queen’s honor. Its hammer will then be covered with leather pads so it will be silent for the rest of the day. After the funeral, the coffin will be placed in a Hearst to make the journey to Windsor for a committal service attended by the Royal family in St George’s Chapel. “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown,” William Shakespeare
May this beautiful and gracious Monarch rest in peace.
